There’s a couple of thing here I really like. I think the content is spot on, and while many of these ideas have been floating around for some time, Sir Ken Robinson does a great job of bringing this all together for a speech at the RSA.
They could have shown a video of him presenting the speech, but talking heads can get monotonous visually, and that’s where I think the animation works really well too. It’s full of activity and motion and reinforces all the main points as he addresses him. Being hand drawn ties it into the speech much better than some slick slideshow of royalty free images we are all becoming desensitized to. It gives it a sense of authenticity. As a learning tool in itself, it it draws the viewer and listener in as the anticipate what will come next and caters to many different learning styles.
Now all we have to do is do something about it.
